Plan B Atlas

Editorial standards

Plan B Atlas exists to give Americans accurate, sourced, US-framed relocation intelligence. These are the standards we hold every page to — written plainly so you can hold us to them.

Verified against official sources · Plan B Atlas Editorial Team · Updated June 2026

Every figure is sourced, dated, and verifiable

We don't publish numbers we can't trace. Every cost, income threshold, tax figure, and visa rule on this site links to a primary source — official US (IRS, SSA, State Department) and foreign government bodies (e.g. AIMA, the Portuguese tax authority) — and shows the date we last verified it.

Figures change. When a source updates, we re-check against it and bump that page's last-verified date — and only that date. We never re-touch dates across the site to look fresh.

Written for US citizens, not rewritten from elsewhere

Everything is framed for an American: US worldwide taxation, the FEIE, Foreign Tax Credit, tax treaties, FBAR/FATCA, costs in dollars, and getting there from the US. That framing is the point — it's what makes our content original and genuinely useful to our readers.

AI assistance, disclosed

Some drafting is AI-assisted. Every page is then reviewed, fact-checked against the cited sources, and edited before publication. AI never invents figures here — it works from our structured, sourced data. We disclose this on every page.

We never fabricate authors, reviewers, or credentials

Where a page is reviewed by a named, credentialed person, we name them and link their credentials. Where it isn't, we say so honestly — “Plan B Atlas Editorial Team · Verified against official sources.” We will never invent a persona, a headshot, or a credential to look more authoritative.

What we don't do

  • Publish thin or templated pages. A topic only gets its own URL when it has enough unique, sourced data to stand alone — otherwise it stays a section.
  • Sell visa, tax, or immigration services. We are independent; our only paid product is the personalized Plan B report.
  • Give legal or tax advice. Tax and visa pages are general information for US citizens — consult a licensed cross-border professional for your situation.
  • Mass-publish. We expand deliberately, country by country, only where we have differentiated data.

Technical integrity

Our sitemap is generated from real pages and dates — a build-time check fails our deploy if it ever lists a URL that doesn't resolve. Removed pages return the correct status codes, utility pages (checkout, your report) are kept out of search, and every page has one canonical URL.

Spotted something out of date or wrong? Tell us — corrections are reviewed by the editorial team and dated on the page.
